🌿 एकादशी व्रत कथा — हरिवासर की महिमा
बहुत समय पहले, सतयुग में मुर नाम का एक अत्यंत बलशाली राक्षस था। उसने स्वर्ग, पृथ्वी और पाताल — तीनों लोकों में आतंक मचा रखा था। देवता अत्यंत दुखी होकर भगवान विष्णु के पास गए और उनसे रक्षा की प्रार्थना की।
भगवान विष्णु ने मुर दैत्य से युद्ध किया। यह युद्ध हजारों वर्षों तक चला। अंततः भगवान विष्णु बदरिकाश्रम में एक गुफा में विश्राम करने लगे। मुर दैत्य भी वहाँ पहुँच गया और वह भगवान पर आक्रमण करने ही वाला था कि तभी उस गुफा से एक दिव्य तेजस्विनी स्त्री प्रकट हुई।
उस देवी ने अपने तेज से मुर दैत्य का संहार कर दिया। भगवान विष्णु जब जागे तो उन्होंने देखा कि राक्षस मारा जा चुका है। उन्होंने उस दिव्य स्त्री से कहा —
“हे देवी! आपने मेरे शत्रु का नाश किया है, इसलिए आप मेरे समान पूज्य होंगी। आप समस्त पापों का नाश करने वाली होंगी। मैं आपको ‘एकादशी’ नाम देता हूँ, क्योंकि आप ‘एकादशी तिथि’ के दिन प्रकट हुई थीं।”
भगवान ने आगे कहा —
“जो मनुष्य श्रद्धा और भक्ति से एकादशी का व्रत करेगा, वह मेरे परम धाम विष्णुलोक को प्राप्त करेगा। एकादशी व्रत करने वाला व्यक्ति जन्म-जन्म के पापों से मुक्त हो जाएगा।”

यह व्रत करने से मनुष्य को सभी पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है।

🌿 Ekadashi Vrat Katha — The Glory of Harivasar
Long ago, in the Satyayuga, there was a very powerful demon named Mura. He wreaked havoc in all three worlds – heaven, earth, and underworld. The gods, deeply distressed, went to Lord Vishnu and prayed for his protection.
Lord Vishnu fought the demon Mura. This battle lasted for thousands of years. Eventually, Lord Vishnu rested in a cave in Badarikashram. The demon Mura also reached there and was about to attack the Lord when a divine, radiant woman appeared from the cave.
With her radiance, the goddess destroyed the demon Mura. When Lord Vishnu awoke, he saw that the demon had been killed. He said to the divine woman, "O Goddess! You have destroyed my enemy, therefore you will be revered like me. You will destroy all sins. I name you Ekadashi, because you appeared on the Ekadashi tithi."
The Lord continued, "Anyone who observes the Ekadashi fast with faith and devotion will attain my supreme abode, Vishnuloka. The Ekadashi fast will be freed from the sins of many births."
